The Workshop

Here we will show you the essential equipment that we use in the workshop. Each photograph is accompanied by a description of what the object is and what it is used for. If you would like to see the machines in action, be sure to check out our section "What We Do With Your Equipment."

The Workbench

   The Workbench

This is where we recharge, repair, clean and tag the extinguishers. We also store the various supplies and tools required while performing service. All the fine touches are done here.

Hydrostatic Tester

   Hydrostatic Tester

Dry chemical and water extinguishers are attached to this machine and using an air powered pump, it tests to ensure that the extinguisher can maintain a NFPA-10 standard pressure. This will indicate if it is safe to operate at normal usage pressure, which is much lower.

Powder Hopper

   Powder Hopper

This stores the dry chemical powders used in ABC and DCP fire extinguishers. It is a "totally closed recovery system" allowing us to discharge the powder into one hopper, and using the other one, recharge using new, uncontaminated powder.

Hose Tester

   Hose Tester

With up to three hoses at a time, we can meet NFPA regulations for service of fire hoses. The machine hydrostatically test hoses to meet certain pressure standards.

NFPA-1962 stipulates that all fire hoses must be tested five years after they're brand new and every three years thereafter.

Hose Rack

   Hose Rack

This apparatus was custom built for us to re-rack various lengths of hose, and eliminates the tedious task of doing it by hand.
